Our History

Cross of Christ began as Cedar Grove Baptist Church in 1960, with a few families meeting in a home. The church officially incorporated June 18, 1963 and on July 11, 1963 purchased a parcel of land at the corner of Diffley Road and Rahn Road in Eagan. The original building was completed in June of 1964 and officially dedicated on June 21st.  Through the years the building went through a number of renovation and expansion projects.  At the time of the original dedication service there were 43 members and an average Sunday school attendance of about 80.

Cross of Christ Community Church became the official name at the Annual Meeting in January, 1994. In May of 2000, Grace Fellowship of Lakeville merged with Cross of Christ and became a church body with two buildings. Shortly after the merger, Cross of Christ relocated to Lakeville because it had outgrown the facility. The church began services at Kenwood Trail Middle School on July 9, 2000.  For six years the church met at Kenwood Trail while searching for a permanent loacation.

On May 7, 2006, Cross of Christ voted on the purchase of St. John's Lutheran Church in downtown Lakeville.  The first Sunday service in the new building was July 23, 2006.
